The Memphis Grizzlies earned their spot in the 2022 NBA Western Conference Playoff Semifinals by defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in six games during the first round. The Grizzlies’ opponent in the second round of the 2022 NBA postseason, the Golden State Warriors, earned their way to the semis thanks to a 4-1 series win over the Denver Nuggets.
The second round series between the Grizzlies and Warriors began with Golden State taking a 117-116 win. Memphis tied things up in Game 2 with a 106-101 triumph. The Warriors broke out in Game 3, taking a 2-1 series lead with a 142-112 blowout win.

Game 3 of the series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors was a nightmare scenario for Memphis. Not only did the team get blown out by the score of 142-112, the club lost its best player, Ja Morant, late in that game.
Morant, who was having an amazing 2022 postseason with an average of 27.1 points per game and who had put up 47 in Game 2 of the Golden State series, left Game 3 with an injured knee after he and Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins of the Warriors scrambled for a loose ball. There has been no update as of this writing if Morant will or will not play in Game 4. If Morant does not play, that will be a blow to the Grizzlies, but it must be noted that the team was without the star for a good portion of the 2022 NBA season and went 20-5 without Morant. The Grizzlies beat the Warriors in March by the score of 123-95 without Morant.
Memphis has four players who are averaging more than 10 points per game this season in Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson, Jr., Brandon Clarke and Dillon Brooks.
Golden State Warriors breakdown and analysis
Things really came together for Golden State in Game 3 of their series with the Memphis Grizzlies. The team shot 63.1 percent from the field during that game and 77.8 percent overall. Those numbers are the second highest in NBA playoff history.
Klay Thompson had a bounce back game for Golden State in game 3. Thompson scored 15, 15 and 12 points in his previous three playoff outings. On Saturday, Thompson put up 21 points, but more importantly, he hit 61.5 percent of his field goal attempts. If Thompson has found his groove, that’s a great sign for the Warriors.
Meanwhile, Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole are averaging more than 20 points per game in the 2022 postseason with Curry at 27.6 and Poole at 22.9. Thompson, despite his struggles in the first two games of this series, is averaging 20.1 points per game.
