Reds vs Blue Jays Betting Outlook

The Blue Jays improved to 11-6 in one-run games this season with Friday night’s win and lead the major leagues in that category.

Toronto broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning. George Springer had an RBI single and scored on Bo Bichette’s double.

The Reds got their run in the seventh on Matt Reynolds’ single. He had three of Cincinnati’s eight hits.

The Reds are 1-6 in one-run games and have the fewest wins in those situations in the majors this season.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto came off the COVID-19 IL and was 1-for-4 with a double for just his second extra-base hit of 2022. He played in his first game in his native Canada since 2017.

Cincinnati reliever Joel Kuhnel, infielder Brandon Drury and outfielder Albert Almora Jr. were placed on the restricted list. They were unable to cross the Canadian border because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Blue Jays left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. sat out the game with a tight left hamstring and is questionable for Saturday.

The Blue Jays swept a three-game series in the teams’ last meeting in 2017 before Friday.
