The Dallas Stars managed to get into the playoffs but they backed in, blowing a huge lead to the Arizona Coyotes then losing in overtime. Coupled with a shootout win against Vegas, the Stars booked a ticket to the postseason.
On the other hand, Calgary cruised throughout most of the season in first place when it came to the Pacific Division. They kept getting incredible production from their top line as Elias Lindholm topped 40 goals and Johnny Gaudreau set a career-high with 40 goals and 115 points. The Flames’ free-agent winger possession numbers were greater than 62% overall ( a full 11% above team relative). It is that line which scares Dallas but Calgary possesses a depth that may be more scary.
As for Game 1 of this best-of-seven set with the Stars, oddsmakers are all-in on the Flames. Calgary is set as a -230 home favorite. The Flames went 2-0-1 in their three meetings against Dallas this year.

Stars vs Flames Game 1 Prediction
The 2020 playoffs were held in a bubble due to the COVID-19 pandemic as Calgary and Dallas did battle. Calgary could not keep up with Dallas as they ran away with that series. This year figures to be slightly different.
— Corey (@moresbyislander) May 2, 2022
Now, Calgary finished the year almost even when comparing home and road record. They won 25 games in and out of Calgary. Dallas won just 19 times away from home. Even with Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and Joe Pavelski, that is not enough for Dallas to beat the Flames on Tuesday night.
Pick: Calgary Flames -1.5 (+115)
