The PGA Championship is right around the corner. The second major of the calendar year runs from May 19 to May 22, and as you’d expect, it features a loaded playing field. Here’s free betting advice on the 2022 PGA Championship, which we’re confident will help you win come tourney time.

Par for the course, the betting lines across the board at the tourney are spread out. Very spread out, in fact. There are 155 players participating at the PGA Championship, after all. However, the most-used online sportsbooks have pegged the underneath players as the favorites of the group:

Who’s Playing At The 2022 PGA Championship?

Who’s playing? Welp, how about everyone? Seriously, every big name you can think of is currently listed to partake at the 2022 PGA Championship. Though, we need to draw special attention to two in particular.

Most notably, Phil Mickelson is on the official list. There’s a possibility Lefty ends up dropping out before then, but nobody quite knows. Mickelson, of course, is still feeling the heat of supporting a Saudi-backed league that would compete with the PGA Tour. He won this event a year ago for the second time in his career so one would think he’ll want to defend his title, but the wrath of the Saudi fiasco might be too strong still. We’ll have to wait and see.

Two is Tiger Woods. He made his long-awaited return to the sport at Augusta last month — a Masters outing that was very up and down (he finished 46th). Most expect him to suit up for this major too. If so, it’ll be a homecoming of sorts for Woods. This year’s tourney host, Southern Hills in Oklahoma, lasted had this event in 2007. And what would you know, Woods won that previous time around. But alas, 15 years later, Woods isn’t nearly the same player, not after the back injuries, car crash, arrests, and personal life drama.

With that said, Southern Hills has also changed in the time since. The Tusla course has been “modernized” per se. Originally built amid the Great Depression (a design by the famed Perry Maxwell), $10 million was poured into renovations at Southern Hills. About 300 yards have been added to the course, bringing it to 7,500 total. Moreover, trees have been removed entirely, fairways have lengthened, and the greens have been re-done. It’s really a “fresh start” at the PGA Championship, for the course AND players alike.

Best Bets To Win 2022 PGA Championship

There’s a litany of players that one could make the argument for to bet on to win the 2022 PGA Championship. But we’re not here to “pull hairs” per se. Instead, we’re here to cut through the noise and offer up the most worthy bets. After doing the research, we’ve settled on the following three players to be our expert sports picks:

Scottie Scheffler

Simply put, Scheffler is the best player on the planet right now. By a longshot. Here’s his 2022 resume so far: four wins (including at the only major), $10.1 million in earnings, and a No. 1 World ranking. It’s not being talked about much, but the 25-year-old is having one of the best first half’s in PGA Tour history.

Here are a few more “crazy but true” stats revolving around Scheffler: he’s gaining 2.82 strokes per round. Amazingly, no other player is even at 2.5 and only seven others are above 2.0. Scheffler has more wins in the past three months than the likes of  Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Daniel Berger, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, and Tony Finau COMBINED in the last two and half years.

Folks, you’d have to be crazy not to put money on Scheffler here. This run he is on is simply the stuff of legends and showing no signs of slowing down.

Rory McIlroy

McIlroy will enter the next major with back-to-back top-5 finishes — not Scheffler-level momentum, but plenty regardless. The first was at August, in which the Irish shot an absurd bogey-free 64 on the final day. He also finished among the leaders in the Wells Fargo Championship days ago.

If McIlroy is going to win his first major in eight years — yes, the drought is that long — he’ll need to start off quicker. For instance, if the Masters was another day longer, McIlroy could’ve won given his play on Sunday, but alas, it was too little, too late for him. McIlroy needs to have a complete performance all four days, but hey, we think it’s more than possible, hence our bet here.

Jordan Spieth

McIlroy failed at his attempt to win the career Grand Slam at Augusta, now Spieth gets his crack with the PGA Championship still eluding him. Some might say that pressure will crack Spieth, but not us. He won the RBC Heritage just a few short weeks ago, so momentum is also on Spieth’s side, akin to our two previous picks. We don’t want to say Spieth is as good as his 2025 self, but it’s the best version of him since then. So hey, why not throw some dollars his way?
